At Royton Hall, we've recently completed a stunning lighting upgrade that not only enhances the building's historic charm but also brings a new level of energy efficiency and ambiance to this beloved venue. Overview of Mechanical and Electrical Systems
The refurbishment of Royton Town Hall involved the installation of extensive mechanical and electrical systems to modernize the facility while maintaining functionality. The mechanical services cover domestic hot and cold-water systems, above-ground drainage, mechanical ventilation, low-temperature hot water (LTHW), gas systems, and building management system (BMS) upgrades. Electrical services include a comprehensive LV distribution, containment, small power, lighting, data infrastructure, fire alarm systems, and disabled refuge provisions.
Mechanical Systems Breakdown
The mechanical systems ensure efficient and safe water supply, heating, and ventilation throughout the building. Domestic hot and cold-water systems utilize WRAS-approved fittings and Rockwool insulation for reliability and energy efficiency, with leak detection units for enhanced safety. The above-ground drainage employs grey UPVC solvent weld systems compliant with BS EN standards, with robust venting and rodding points for future maintenance. Mechanical ventilation incorporates heat recovery units and extract fans, controlled via Ecosmart systems, providing tailored temperature and air quality management for various rooms. The LTHW system features 80kW boilers and a mix of radiators and heat coils, optimized for energy efficiency in line with BREEAM standards.
