The Guinness Partnership Storage Heater & Electrical Upgrade Programme

Over the last 12 months Barlows (UK) Ltd has completed a storage heater and electrical upgrade programme at 6 schemes covering over 80 residential properties on the behalf of ‘The Guinness Partnership’. The schemes were located across South Yorkshire, Retford, Nottinghamshire, Buxton, Derby and Swadlincote, Derbyshire and the project value was approximately £300,000.00.

The initial scheme was awarded to Barlows through a competitive tender process and following the successful completion of the initial project on time, within budget and receiving great praise from the residents we were subsequently awarded additional schemes to complete as part of the framework. One of our key successes was an appointment of our tenant liaison personnel who visited each site regularity to discuss the works before the installation with the residents and upon completion, this meant that residents could highlight any concerns to us directly prior to the works commencing and also meant that upon completion of the works any snags were able to be resolved before any escalation.

The works involved:

Replacing all storage heaters throughout each property with new Dimplex Quantum storage heaters (installing new or second electrical supplies where required)
Replace showers or install new showers including co-ordinating all tiling and plumbing with our in house tradesmen
Installation or replacement of down-flow heaters
Installation or replacement of towel rails
Installation or replacement of extractor fans
Installation or replacement of panel heaters
Upgrading and replacing of consumer units
Electrical installation condition reports
Present residents with handover instructions and provide after care for the residents
